So this is a new feature that makes a difference in not only appearance, but also in how you handle your pen. Once I do hold on the ring – the problem never occurs. I still grip the pen the same way I did before, not doing as one should, so it is a learning curve. For me, it felt like the other way around. The new “ring” system, with a thicker ring to grip on would lessen this problem. If you would like to uncap the pen, the cap then screwed into the section part, making it easy to sometimes unscrew the barrel instead. The old model had only a small “ring” on the section that separated the grip section and the barrel section. OK, this is actually the big thing – visually. We improved uncapping problems between grip and body with a new component, the ring* that improves the drag between the grip and the body. Would be cool if you could have a special long international standard in a good material for these pens with the difficult to clean inks in mind. I would also argue that while it is very handy with a converter, an empty slightly sturdier cartridge that would be refillable alá rOtring drawing pens would most likely suite the India ink users better. I have had no problems with my old one except the fact that it is a bit difficult to clean out if I let the same ink stay for too long in the pen. Yes, a Schmidt converter is usually a good one. The converter has been replaced with a higher quality model. Still, good that they made something better. Honestly, I can’t say this has been a bother to me and I missed that from just looking at the pens. The window is made of glass, which makes it safer against scratches and leaks. Let’s begin though with the list of things they changed, and my reflections about that. The same concept of the first pen is still solid and going in this pen. If you already own an IndiGraph fountain pen, many of the things I will talk about will seem like a bit of a nitpicking and very small details. I received the fountain pen and comparing it to my old, I have the check list from the e-mail sent out to me to talk around as well as some visual and experience things I like to address. (That’s the excuse, it doesn’t have to be better than that…). Liking the pen and seeing that I might like to have two different nib sizes going if I ever get serious about sketching with them. Not long ago, I received an offer of discount since I had backed the project on kick-starter to buy the newly updated pen. A fountain pen that I like a lot is the IndiGraph fountain pen ( click for previous review of that pen), a pen that has a unique cap that makes it possible to use iron-gall inks, India inks and drawing inks safely.
